Taiwan
I visited Taiwan from 2 March 2016 - 6 March 2016, during the transitional change of season from Winter to Spring. The best part about Taiwan is probably the fact that their winter is air-con temperature for us, which is way better than Singapore's average temperature of about 32 degrees celcius. Here's a brief outline of my 5D4N trip.
DAY 1: Danshui + Beitou
DAY 2: Ximending + Taipei 101 + Raohe Night Market
DAY 3: Yangmingshan
DAY 4: Yilan
Danshui + Beitou
Tamsui is a sea-side district in New Taipei, Taiwan. It is named after the Tamsui River; the name means "fresh water". The town is popular as a site for viewing the sun setting into the Taiwan Strait. Beitou is the most mountainous and highest of Taipei's districts, encompassing a meadow with rivers running through the valley which have abundant steam rising from them which is the result of geothermal warming. The valley is often surrounded by mist shrouding the trees and grass, and is famous for its hot springs. It was unexpectedly cold but pretty flowers made up for it. We weren't able to find many 樱花树 for some reason which was weird because we were there during its blooming season.
Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall + Taipei 101 + Raohe Night Market
The National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a memorial to the Republic of China's National Father, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and was completed in 1972. It contains displays of Sun's life and the revolution he led, and is also a multi-purpose social, educational and cultural center for the public. The picture on the left was taken at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, and the one on the right was taken at Taipei 101.
Yangmingshan
Yangmingshan National Park is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan, located between Taipei and New Taipei City. The National Park is famous for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes, and hiking trails, including Taiwan's tallest dormant volcano, Seven Star Mountain. The temperature went up on this day which was good news. We actually took the bus and alighted at the wrong stop so instead of hiking up the mountain we ended up hiking down but that's okay.
Yilan
Yilan is surrounded by mountains facing the Pacific Ocean and is located in the northeast of Taiwan. With an average temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, Yilan often rains but offers beautiful foggy sceneryl. Yilan was veryyyy pretty. The picture on the left was taken at Yilan Lanyang Museum. The one on the right was taken at Yilan Station.
